  • Master’s Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or Social Work
  • Two (2) years of experience providing sex offender specific treatment or treatment in a correctional or forensic setting.
  • Knowledge of cognitive-behavioral treatment methods, sex offender treatment methods, and mental health theories, concepts and methods related to treatment in Sexually Violent Predators facilities, forensic or correctional settings.
  • Management or Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be a Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP) who is licensed by the Council on Sex Offender Treatment. LSOTP with Supervisor designation highly desired.
  • Licensed or license- eligible as a Clinical Psychologist or licensed or license-eligible as a Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas
  • Membership in the Sex Offender Civil Commitment Programs Network (SOCCPN) or the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) highly desired.


  1. Comply with all laws, policies and procedures, rules and regulations formulated by Texas Civil Commitment Office (TCCO).
  2. Be knowledgeable and comply with the rules of the Council on Sex Offender Treatment (CSOT).
  3. Oversee the quality of services provided and ensure compliance with applicable codes, rules, regulations and program procedures.
  4. Provide clinical oversight of the facility and program to ensure efficient and effective day to day operations.
  5. Ensure timely and appropriate training to assure the ability of treatment staff to implement the responsibilities and duties of their positions.
  6. The above responsibilities are a highlight of responsibilities and not a full list. Other responsibilities may be performed as assigned.

Military & Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program: Full Time Rotational Positions

Magellan Health is seeking licensed clinicians to work as Adult, Child and Youth Behavioral and
School Counselors with the MFLC Program at various military installations in Texas, including
Fort Hood and NAS Kingsville. Candidates must be licensed to work at the independent practice
level in the state of Texas, and currently accepted licenses are: LCSW, LMFT, LPC.

*Licensed military spouses are eligible to work in any state under their current license for up to 1 year

Job Summary:

Responsible for developing and delivering programs and processes that provide counseling services to students to include conducting clinical assessments and performing crisis management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conducts clinical assessments.
  • Performs short term personal intervention and crisis management (up to 3 visits) with/for students and, as necessary, provides appropriate referrals.
  • Develops and delivers programs and processes that provide counseling services to students.
  • Participates in strategic and operational planning to support achievement of organizational goals.
  • Provides counseling and guidance in support of achievement of academic success; leads and initiates programs promoting student success.
  • May serve on college Strategies for Behavioral Intervention (SOBI) team.
  • Provides outreach programs to students at risk; may refer students to outside resources for personal, academic or crisis intervention.
  • Provides feedback to school leadership to facilitate student success; serves on ad-hoc teams and committees.
  • Develops and delivers workshops supporting student success.
  • Provides support for special student populations.
  • May perform all duties inherent in supervision, which includes but not limited, to the following:  Recommends and/or approves all personnel actions, hiring, promotions, transfers, terminations and disciplinary actions. Also approves/disapproves leave, schedules work assignments and conducts performance evaluations.
  • May serve on Strategies of Behavioral Intervention (SOBI) College/District Committee.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree. 
  • Two years’ of experience in counseling preferably in a community college.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Three years of experience in counseling.
  • The ideal candidate should have clinical licenses – LPC, LCSW with supervision
  • Two years of counseling experience or any direct work experience within a community
    college setting is a plus

Licenses and Certifications: 

  • Licensure as a professional counselor, clinical social worker, or psychologist from a state or national certifying association (i.e. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Marriage & Family Therapists
